Beyond its environment, history and beaches, Veracruz is one of the most important coffee regions of Mexico and through the Coffee Route, you can know, feel and taste exquisite grains of height while enjoying the natural beauty that surrounds them. You should consider traveling the mountainous area in your next search for airlines tickets to Mexico and visit Veracruz to go in search of the aromas and flavors that a good and delicious coffee gives you.

Pleasure to the cup

The first stop of this aromatic route is the recently named Magic Town of Orizaba, an eight-minute walk up from its cable car that is the third longest and the second highest in Mexico, which will place you on the top of the historic Borrego Hill, which offers a beautiful panorama from where you can admire the ruins of an old fort. When you go down, the Palacio de Hierro awaits you to tell you the story behind its metal structure. From Orizaba you will go to Córdoba, the place where coffee was introduced to the country in 1796, from Cuba, the first sip of this drink will be given in the Calufe coffee shop, a family business with more than 30 years of history that will take you inside to the world of coffee.

Now is the time to head towards the High Mountains region, specifically San Bartolo, which is a community of only 22 families dedicated to the cultivation, harvest and transformation of coffee, whose cultivation takes four to five years to generate its fruit. The inhabitants will tell you the process while you walk among the coffee plantations where you will notice that the cherry harvest is done manually and one by one, the tour will end with a cup of steaming coffee and some cookies that you have previously prepared. At the end of the afternoon head to Amatlán de los Reyes, where you will explore the Hacienda of Guadalupe, which dates back to 1600 and which currently has 60 hectares that protect mango, banana and coffee crops. It is said that the first plant of aromatic grain was planted here in Mexico.
